30th Rincon Classic
updated: Jan 12, 2013, 1:00 PM

Nobody sent me the memo. Without first checking www.rinconclassic.com, I went racing out of bed
crack o' dawn this morning thinking I was missing the 30th Annual Rincon Classic.
My first sign that things were amiss, however, was when I drove into the Rincon Beach parking lot with
empty spaces galore and no Quicksilver bus ominously parked on Bates Road. Oh well, it's always good
to get down to Rincon.
If you get a chance, support the Rincon Classic. It's a bunch of good folks doing good things for the
ocean and the environment, there are always some amazing surfers in the water pushing the limits of
the sport, there are a ton of raffle items, they have a photo contest and a video contest, demo
surfboards available and lots more.
Each Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. they'll announce on their website whether the week-end event is on or
postponed, pending surf conditions. Again: www.rinconclassic.com
What the heck, I've got a few hours to burn before the wife has me take down the Christmas lights.
Maybe there's some fun surf worth photographing. Check it out.
